Ramping Up

Well, we are still several weeks from heading off to Calama, but I wanted to get started with the blog. By now we have had our first conference call regarding the mission and I am starting to get pretty excited about the whole thing. My flight information came earlier this week and I am already starting to get "We'll miss you" from my wife and my son. I've never been away for 2 full weeks from either of them.

I have my passport ready to go and am scheduled for my immunization shots on Monday July 7th. Had a hard time finding someone to do it since my doctor wanted to send me to one of the places GOS says not to go to. I finally settled on the local county department of health. They are about 1/3 the cost of the other place so good call GOS!

As for everything else, I am pretty excited to be the Communications and Fundrasing Captain! How awesome is it to have a military title! I expect that everyone will address me as Cap'n. I have already spoken with a few folks about helping with the silent auction and will look to get a few others as well. I set up the fundraising page and (obviously) this blog, so I think everything is good for now.

Well, I will sign off as this is supposed to be about the mission experiences and not about my new position of authority (You must respect my a-thor-ah-tay!) . Thanks for reading.
